“Qualified clinical hypnotherapists are concentrated in a handful of Indian cities, and most people do not live in one of them. Hypnotherapy is also, as it happens, among the methods that transfers most cleanly to video — what it requires is an undisturbed hour and a voice to follow, not a shared room.”

What Clinical Hypnosis Actually Is
It is worth separating this from the stage show, because the association puts off a lot of people who would benefit. Clinical hypnosis is a focused, relaxed state of concentrated attention — much closer to being absorbed in a book, or driving a familiar route without recalling the last two kilometres, than to sleep or unconsciousness.
You stay aware throughout. You can hear, think, speak and stop whenever you want. You cannot be made to do anything against your own values, and you will remember the session. What the state gives access to is the layer where habits and automatic responses actually operate — which is why patterns that have resisted willpower sometimes move here when they have not moved anywhere else.

What It Is Used For
And what it is not used for: severe mental illness, anything requiring diagnosis or medication, or as a replacement for medical treatment. Where somebody needs clinical or psychiatric care, that is what they are told.
- «Smoking cessation — one of the best-supported applications and the most common reason people come.
- «Weight and eating patterns, particularly emotional eating, where the behaviour is regulating something other than hunger.
- «Phobias and specific fears — flying, needles, lifts, driving, animals.
- «Exam and performance anxiety, including the blanking that happens despite knowing the material.
- «Sleep difficulty where the obstacle is a mind that will not settle.
- «Nail biting and similar habits.
- «Confidence, public speaking and interview nerves.

How Sessions Run
Fifty to sixty minutes over video. The first is mostly conversation — what you want changed, what you have already tried, and what the pattern is doing for you. The hypnosis component usually begins in the first or second session and occupies twenty to thirty minutes of the hour.
You will be asked to be somewhere private, seated or reclined, with headphones. Most people need between four and eight sessions. Single-issue work such as one specific phobia is sometimes shorter. Anyone guaranteeing a one-session cure is overselling, and it is reasonable to be sceptical of that claim.

The Practical Obstacle Is Privacy, Not Technology
In most Indian homes the difficulty is not the connection — it is finding an hour where nobody walks in. What clients actually do: headphones without exception, a locked room, mid-morning weekday slots when the house is emptiest, a parked car, or a booked co-working booth. It is also worth agreeing in advance what happens if the connection drops, which is simply that you come out of the state on your own and the call is restarted.

Why Work With a Practitioner in Delhi
Two reasons that come up repeatedly. The first is the combination — clinical hypnotherapy alongside an MA in Counselling Psychology and twenty-five years as a Reiki Master is an unusual mix anywhere in India, and it means the approach can shift if hypnotherapy turns out not to be the right tool.
The second is simply availability. For most of the applications above there is no clinical reason the practitioner needs to be in your city, and restricting yourself to local options narrows the field considerably.

Credentials
Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through the California Hypnosis Institute of India, MA in Counselling Psychology, BA (Hons) Behavioural Sciences. Additionally certified in NLP and Life Coaching (ECNLP and ANLP), IEMT, and EFT. Member of the Australian Holistic Healers Association, with an Australian-accredited Diploma in Holistic Living Counselling.
A note on regulation: hypnotherapy is not a statutorily regulated profession in India, which means the burden of checking credentials falls on you. Ask any practitioner which body certified them and at what level, and be wary of vagueness.

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Can hypnotherapy really work over video?+
Yes. The method depends on attention and voice, both of which transmit perfectly well. What matters is that you are somewhere private and undisturbed for the full session.
Will I lose control or reveal something I do not want to?+
No. You remain aware and in control throughout, you can speak and stop at any point, and you cannot be made to act against your own values. The stage version is entertainment and works on selected, willing volunteers.
How many sessions will I need?+
Usually four to eight. A single well-defined phobia can be shorter. Longstanding habits with an emotional function underneath take longer. You should get a realistic estimate after the first session rather than a guarantee before it.
What if I cannot be hypnotised?+
Responsiveness varies and a small proportion of people find it difficult, but the great majority can reach a useful state. If it genuinely does not suit you, that becomes clear early and another approach is suggested rather than persisted with.
Is this the same as the hypnotherapy you offer in South Delhi?+
The work is the same. The South Delhi page covers in-person sessions at the Anand Niketan practice; this one is for clients elsewhere in India seen by video.
