What is Theta Healing?
Theta Healing is a meditation-based healing modality developed by Vianna Stibal in the 1990s. The method uses a guided visualisation to gently slow brainwave activity into the theta state — the same frequency you pass through just before sleep and during deep meditation. In this state, the subconscious mind becomes especially receptive, making it possible to identify and transform the beliefs that silently drive how you feel, decide and behave.
Most of us carry beliefs we never consciously chose — 'I'm not enough', 'love always hurts', 'money is hard' — absorbed from family, culture or early experiences. Theta Healing uses a structured process of digging for the core belief, acknowledging it, releasing it and downloading a healthier replacement. Because the work happens at subconscious depth, shifts tend to feel effortless and lasting.

What Happens in a Session
A session is a relaxed, guided conversation. You remain fully aware and in control the whole time while being gently guided into the theta brainwave state, where deep, lasting change happens most easily. Clients often leave feeling lighter, clearer and quietly amazed at how long they had been carrying a belief they no longer need.
Theta Healing works beautifully alongside talk therapy, addressing what sits beneath conscious awareness. It supports the release of fear, grief, resentment and self-sabotaging patterns, and brings forward your inner wisdom so life decisions feel aligned and grounded.

Benefits of Theta Healing
Theta Healing identifies and releases the subconscious patterns that quietly block your growth, reaching the deep meditative state where lasting change happens most easily. Clients often notice meaningful breakthroughs within a single session.

What a Session Involves
Sessions run fifty to sixty minutes, in person at Anand Niketan or online. You remain fully awake and in conversation throughout — the meditative element is a relaxed, focused state rather than anything resembling sleep or unconsciousness.
The work is largely dialogue: identifying a belief that is operating underneath a recurring pattern, tracing where it came from, and working with it in that relaxed state. Most people find the first session more conversational than they expected.

Being Honest About the Evidence
Theta healing is a relatively recent practice and there is essentially no controlled research supporting it. That should be said plainly rather than glossed over, and any practitioner who implies a clinical evidence base for it is misrepresenting the position.
What can reasonably be said is that clients describe it as a structured way of surfacing beliefs they had not articulated, and that many find the reflective process valuable in its own right. Judged as a contemplative and reflective practice it has something to offer. Judged as a medical treatment it does not, and it should not be offered as one.

Who It Suits
It tends to suit people who are drawn to a belief-focused, contemplative approach and who are already comfortable with meditative practice. It suits people less well if they want an evidence-based intervention for a defined clinical problem, in which case counselling or clinical hypnotherapy would be the more appropriate starting point — both of which are available here, and either can be suggested instead.

Learn To Be Sustainably Happy!
A first ThetaHealing session opens with a conversation about the beliefs or feelings you keep bumping into, followed by a guided meditation in which Taanya helps you identify and reframe one of them. You stay aware throughout and can stop at any point. It works well alongside counselling rather than instead of it, and Taanya will say so if she thinks talking therapy should come first. Sessions are available at Anand Niketan in South Delhi and over video. To book or ask a question, call or WhatsApp +91-9999344415.

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Will I be asleep or unconscious during a session?+
No. You stay fully aware and in control the entire time. Theta Healing is a relaxed, guided conversation — you simply enter a calm, meditative state while we work together.
How quickly will I notice results?+
Because the work happens at a subconscious level, many clients notice meaningful shifts within a single session, with changes that tend to feel effortless and lasting.
Is theta healing scientifically proven?+
No. There is essentially no controlled research on it, and it would be misleading to suggest otherwise. It is best understood as a reflective and meditative practice rather than a clinical treatment.
How is it different from Reiki?+
Reiki is a hands-on or distance energy practice focused on relaxation and balance, with the client generally passive. Theta healing is conversational and belief-focused — you are actively engaged throughout, examining specific patterns.
Can it replace counselling or medication?+
No. It does not diagnose or treat clinical conditions and should never replace prescribed treatment. Where a clinical difficulty is present, counselling or medical care is the appropriate route, alongside this if you wish.
