Time Line Therapy in South Delhi

Time Line Therapy works with the way your mind organises time. Instead of going through difficult memories one by one, it goes to the earliest event in a chain and works there — on the reasoning that everything downstream of it was built on top. Sessions are held in person at Anand Niketan in South Delhi and online.

The Idea Behind It

Everyone stores time somehow. Ask someone to point to where the past is and they will point — behind them, to the left, somewhere. They will not know why they pointed there, but they will point consistently. That internal arrangement is what the method calls a time line.

The time line functions as a bird's-eye view of your life: the positive and negative shifts laid out on a single trajectory rather than experienced one at a time from inside. Working from that vantage point makes something possible that is hard from inside a memory — you can see the sequence, and where a pattern began.

The working assumption is that negative emotions and limiting decisions are not scattered randomly through your history. They cluster in chains, and each chain has a first link — often much earlier than expected and often something the adult mind considers trivial. Address the first link and the rest of the chain tends to lose its charge, rather than needing to be dismantled individually.

What It Is Used For

The five emotions the method works with most directly are anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt. Most people arrive naming one and discover in the first session that two or three are involved.

  • «Anger that arrives faster and larger than the situation warrants
  • «Sadness that has outlived the loss that caused it
  • «Fear that attaches itself to situations you know are safe
  • «Guilt you have examined honestly and still cannot put down
  • «Hurt from an event long finished that still tightens your chest when it comes to mind
  • «Limiting decisions — the conclusions you drew about yourself at eight or fourteen and never revisited
  • «Repeating patterns you can now predict in yourself and still cannot interrupt

What a Session Involves

You stay awake and aware throughout. It is guided, deeply relaxed and internally focused, but it is not hypnosis and you are not asked to relive anything in detail.

A significant part of the appeal is that you do not have to narrate the painful details. You need to locate the event; you do not need to describe it. For people who find recounting difficult, that matters a great deal.

  • «Identifying which emotion or decision is actually driving the pattern — often not the one you came in naming.
  • «Establishing how your time line is arranged, which is simply a matter of noticing rather than deciding.
  • «Locating the root event — the earliest point in the chain. The unconscious mind supplies this; it is not reasoned out.
  • «Taking a position above and before that event, which is what makes the work bearable. You observe rather than re-enter.
  • «Releasing the emotion from that point, which allows the events downstream to release with it.
  • «Checking the result by testing whether the old trigger still produces the old response.
  • «Deciding what you want in its place, so the space that opens does not simply refill with the same thing.

Who It Suits, and Who It Does Not

Time Line Therapy tends to suit people who have insight already. If you can describe your pattern accurately, trace it to its likely origin and explain it to a friend — and none of that has changed anything — this is often the right tool. Understanding and release are different processes, and this one is aimed at release.

It is less appropriate as a starting point for severe or complex trauma, for active clinical depression, or where there is ongoing danger in your present circumstances. In those situations the right first step is stabilisation and appropriate clinical care. If that is your situation you will be told so plainly, and helped to find the right support rather than sold sessions.

How It Sits Alongside Other Work

Time Line Therapy comes from the same tradition as NLP and is often used with it — NLP for the beliefs and daily patterns, Time Line Therapy for the emotional charge underneath them. It also combines well with EFT, IEMT and inner child work, all of which approach the same territory from different angles.

It is rarely the whole of a piece of work. Releasing an old emotion creates room; counselling is usually what helps you decide what to do with the room.

Frequently Asked

Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know before booking your first session.

Do I have to describe what happened?+

No. You need to identify when the earliest event occurred; you do not need to narrate its content. Many clients complete the work without ever describing the event out loud, which is one of the main reasons people choose this method.

Is Time Line Therapy hypnosis?+

No. You remain awake, aware and in control throughout, and you will remember the whole session. It uses a relaxed and inwardly focused state, which is a normal state you enter several times a day, but it is not hypnotherapy and it is not sleep.

What if I cannot find the root event?+

This is common and not a problem. The first thing that surfaces is worked with, whether or not it seems logical, and whether or not you can verify it. The work is on the emotional structure, not on establishing a historical record.

How many sessions are needed?+

It is one of the shorter methods. A single emotion is often addressed in one to two sessions, and a fuller piece of work covering several emotions and a few limiting decisions typically runs to three or four.

Will I forget what happened to me?+

No, and that is not the aim. The memory remains and remains accurate. What changes is the emotional charge attached to it — the event becomes something you can recall without it taking over the rest of your day.

Can this be done online?+

Yes. The work is guided verbally and transfers well to video sessions. Clients in Gurgaon, Noida, elsewhere in India and overseas do this work online regularly.
