“Anxiety is the most common reason people book online. Dr. (Hon.) Taanya Nagi works with anxiety, panic and overthinking by video with clients across India, from her practice in New Delhi, in English or Hindi.”
Dr. (Hon.) Taanya Nagi holds an MA in Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Holistic Healing & Counselling from the Holistic Living Training Institute in Melbourne, is a certified member of the Australian Holistic Healers & Counsellors Association (AHHCA), and practised in Australia for thirteen years before returning to India. She is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, NLP Life Coach and Usui Reiki Master with more than twenty-five years of practice, and she works from a solo practice in New Delhi, in person and online, in English, Hindi or Punjabi.
Online suits anxiety unusually well. The person who cannot face a waiting room, a new building or a stranger's office can start from their own chair, and the thing they are afraid of — being seen, being judged, being stuck somewhere they cannot leave — is taken out of the first appointment entirely.
Treatment & Support

What anxiety looks like by the time someone books
- «Generalised worry that moves from topic to topic and never settles — money, health, parents, work, the children — with a body that is tense by ten in the morning
- «Panic attacks: racing heart, breathlessness, a certainty of collapse or death that a cardiologist has already ruled out
- «Health anxiety, where every symptom is checked, searched and re-checked, and reassurance lasts an afternoon
- «Social anxiety — dread before meetings, presentations, weddings and family functions, and a post-mortem of every conversation afterwards
- «Exam and work anxiety: freezing in the test, going blank in the interview, unable to start the one task that matters most
- «Overthinking at night, so that the day's problems are replayed until two in the morning and the next day is worse for it

What an online session involves
Sessions are by video, fifty to sixty minutes, at a fixed time. The first is mostly listening: what the anxiety does, when it started, what has been tried, what an ordinary day looks like. From there the approach is chosen to fit the person rather than the label.
Talk therapy is the backbone — understanding what the worry is protecting you from, where the catastrophic thinking was learnt, and how to meet it differently when it arrives. Clinical hypnotherapy works well for panic, phobias and performance anxiety, and an induction runs perfectly well over video with headphones on. EFT tapping gives clients something to do with their hands and their breath in the moment a wave arrives; it can be taught in a session and practised alone. Breathing and somatic work addresses the body that has been running on alarm for years, because anxiety is never only a thought.

Why online works for anxiety
There is no commute, which for someone who has panic attacks in traffic or on the Metro is not a small thing. There is no waiting room. You are in your own room, with your own things, and you are at home the moment the call ends. Clients who would have cancelled an in-person appointment on a bad day usually keep an online one, and consistency is most of what makes anxiety work succeed.
It also puts a specialist within reach where there is none locally. Clients come from Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai, and just as often from Lucknow, Jaipur, Indore, Bhopal, Ranchi, Guwahati, Dehradun, Kochi and towns that have no counselling psychologist at all. Sessions are in English, Hindi or a mix of the two, and Punjabi is available.

How this works
Sessions are online from New Delhi; in-person appointments are only available at D-96 Anand Niketan, New Delhi 110021. Taanya is a counselling psychologist, not a psychiatrist; she does not diagnose psychiatric illness or prescribe medication, and where medication or a psychiatric assessment is indicated — for severe or long-standing anxiety it sometimes is — she will say so and refer you to a psychiatrist in your city, with therapy continuing alongside if you wish. This is a scheduled service, not a crisis one: in immediate danger, call Tele-MANAS on 14416, KIRAN on 1800-599-0019 or 112, or go to the nearest emergency department.

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Can panic attacks really be treated over video?+
Yes. Panic responds to understanding what the body is doing, to breathing and grounding skills practised between sessions, and to hypnotherapy for the anticipatory fear. None of that needs the two of you in the same room, and many clients find it easier to practise the skills in the place they will actually use them.
What if I have a panic attack during the session?+
Then you are in the right place. It is worked through live, with breathing and grounding, and it often becomes the most useful session of the course. You are at home, and you can stop at any time.
Do I need a diagnosis before I book?+
No. Most people book because they are anxious, not because they have been told what to call it. If a formal assessment or medication would help, that will be said plainly and a referral made.
Are sessions in Hindi or English?+
Either, or the mix most people speak. Hypnotherapy inductions are available in Hindi and English. Punjabi is also available.
What if I need urgent help?+
Call Tele-MANAS on 14416 or KIRAN on 1800-599-0019, both free and available around the clock, or 112. If you cannot stay safe, go to the nearest emergency department; online counselling cannot respond to an emergency.
