Treatment & Support

What People Bring
- «Anxiety during pregnancy, often after a previous loss, and rarely asked about at appointments
- «A birth that was frightening, or where you were not listened to, and that you keep returning to
- «Bonding that has not arrived on schedule, and the fear of what that means about you
- «Rage and resentment towards a partner whose life appears largely unchanged
- «Grief for the person you were, which feels unspeakable next to a healthy baby
- «Feeding difficulties, and the guilt manufactured around them
- «Loss of confidence in your own competence, in someone who was competent at everything before
- «Fathers and partners, who are rarely asked how they are at all

Birth Trauma
A traumatic birth is defined by how it was experienced, not by the medical outcome. A delivery recorded as uncomplicated can still leave someone with post-traumatic symptoms, particularly where they felt unheard, overridden or frightened for their life or the baby's.
The signs are the ordinary trauma signs: intrusive memories, avoidance of hospitals or of talking about it, hypervigilance about the baby, and a strong reaction to other people's birth stories. It responds to trauma treatment, including IEMT, which does not require detailed retelling.

The Full-House Problem
In many Indian households the postnatal period is spent surrounded by family, and the assumption is that this is straightforwardly supportive. Often it is. It is also frequently its own pressure.
Naming this is not ingratitude. Both things are true — you can be well supported and depleted by the same arrangement.
- «Constant advice, contradictory and delivered with authority
- «No privacy in which to fall apart, feed, or recover
- «Being managed rather than supported, and losing authority over your own baby
- «Comment on your body, your milk supply and your competence
- «Preference expressed about the baby's sex, sometimes openly
- «The expectation of hosting visitors within days of giving birth

What Counselling Offers
- «A space with no audience and no advice, which is frequently the scarcest thing available
- «Treatment for birth trauma where it is present
- «Managing anxiety, including the intrusive thoughts about harm that terrify new parents and are extremely common
- «Working on identity and grief without it being read as a failure to love your child
- «Couples work, where the arrival has redistributed everything and neither person has said so
- «Practical boundary-setting with family, which is usually the highest-value single change
- «Support for partners, who are frequently struggling and rarely asked

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
I have intrusive thoughts about the baby being harmed. Am I dangerous?+
Almost certainly not. Intrusive thoughts of harm are extremely common in new parents and are experienced as horrifying precisely because they are contrary to what you want. They are anxiety, not intent. Say it out loud to someone — it is usually a substantial relief, and it will not be met with alarm here.
Is it too late? My child is three.+
No. Birth trauma and unprocessed early parenthood do not expire, and people do this work years afterwards with good results.
Can my partner come?+
Yes. Joint sessions are often the most useful, and partners frequently have their own unaddressed distress from the birth.
What if I am told I should just be grateful?+
You will not hear that here. Gratitude and difficulty coexist perfectly well, and being told otherwise is one of the main reasons people stay silent about this.
Can this be done online?+
Yes, and with a small baby it is usually the only practical option. Sessions can accommodate feeding and interruptions.
