Online Counselling and Therapy for Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula

“The Tricity is a few hours from Delhi by road or train, which makes it the one place on this list where online sessions can be mixed with an occasional visit to the practice at Anand Niketan.”

Dr. (Hon.) Taanya Nagi holds an MA in Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Holistic Healing & Counselling from the Holistic Living Training Institute in Melbourne, is a certified member of the Australian Holistic Healers & Counsellors Association (AHHCA), and practised in Australia for thirteen years before returning to India. She is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, NLP Life Coach and Usui Reiki Master with more than twenty-five years of practice, and she works online with clients across India from New Delhi, in English, Hindi or Punjabi.

Clients are across the sectors of Chandigarh, in Mohali and its IT park, in Panchkula, and in the newer developments at Zirakpur and Kharar. Many are from families with land in the Punjab or Haryana countryside a generation back, and almost all of them have a relative in Canada, Australia or England.

Understanding Your Healing Journey

Treatment & Support

Why Tricity clients choose online

The Tricity is small enough that people know each other. A car parked outside a psychologist's clinic in a particular sector is noticed, and in a community where reputation still travels by word of mouth, that matters. Working with a practitioner in Delhi, whom nobody locally has heard of, removes the exposure entirely.

The second reason is the combination on offer. Counselling together with clinical hypnotherapy, NLP-based coaching and Reiki from one practitioner is not easy to find in Chandigarh, and clients who want to address, say, anxiety and a smoking habit in the same piece of work do not have to see two people. The third is that Taanya's thirteen years in Australia give her a direct understanding of what emigration does to a family, which comes up in almost every Tricity household.

What Tricity clients come with

  • «Emigration pressure: the IELTS attempts, the study permit that came or did not, the pressure from parents who have already told the neighbours, and the fear of being the one who stayed
  • «Parents whose children are in Brampton or Surrey, managing an empty house, a long-distance grandparenthood and the arithmetic of visits and visas
  • «Farming families in transition, where land has been sold or leased and a generation that grew up with a clear role is finding that it has none
  • «Young people from Punjabi households facing firm expectations about marriage, caste and family reputation, alongside their own quite different plans
  • «Alcohol and other substance use that has moved from social to structural, often in men who would never describe it as a problem

Sessions around Tricity hours

Chandigarh and Delhi share a clock, so slots are straightforward. Early-morning and evening sessions exist for people on office hours and weekend sessions are available. Clients in the Mohali IT park on overseas-client hours use the late-evening slots.

Privacy at home is usually privacy from parents, and Tricity houses are often full of them. Headphones remove half the conversation from anyone in earshot. A slot when the house is out, a parked car, or a booked meeting room at work are what clients most commonly use. Nobody is obliged to tell their family that they are in counselling, and nothing is shared with anyone. For clients who would rather meet in person now and then, Delhi is a few hours away by road or by Shatabdi, and some combine online sessions with a visit to Anand Niketan every few months.

Counselling support for depression and anxiety

How this works

Sessions are online from New Delhi. There is no clinic in Chandigarh, Mohali or Panchkula, and in-person appointments are only available at D-96 Anand Niketan, New Delhi 110021. Taanya is a counselling psychologist, not a psychiatrist; she does not diagnose psychiatric illness or prescribe medication. Where medication or a psychiatric assessment is indicated she will say so and refer you to a psychiatrist in the Tricity, where a major teaching hospital and many private practices are available. This is a scheduled service, not a crisis one: in immediate danger, call Tele-MANAS on 14416, KIRAN on 1800-599-0019 or 112, or go to the nearest emergency department.

Frequently Asked

Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know before booking your first session.

Is there a clinic in Chandigarh?+

No. The only consulting room is at Anand Niketan in South Delhi. Tricity clients are seen online by video, and those who want to can travel to Delhi for an occasional in-person session.

Are sessions in Hindi, Punjabi or English?+

Any of the three, or the mix that most Tricity households actually speak. Family matters often come out more directly in Punjabi, and there is no need to translate them.

How do I keep sessions private in a family home?+

Headphones, a slot when the house is out, a parked car, or a booked room at work. Sessions are not recorded and are confidential. You do not have to tell your parents or anyone else that you are in counselling, and nothing is shared with a family member who may have suggested it.

How many sessions will I need?+

It depends on what you bring. Focused difficulties often respond in six to twelve sessions; longstanding patterns take longer. You should have a rough estimate after two or three sessions, revised openly as the work goes on.

What if I need urgent help?+

Call Tele-MANAS on 14416 or KIRAN on 1800-599-0019, both free and available around the clock, or 112. If you cannot stay safe, go to the nearest emergency department; online counselling cannot respond to an emergency.
