“Dr. (Hon.) Taanya Nagi works online with clients across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area — downtown and Scarborough, Brampton, Mississauga, Markham, Vaughan and the wider 905. She holds an MA in Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Holistic Healing & Counselling from the Holistic Living Training Institute in Melbourne, is a certified member of the Australian Holistic Healers & Counsellors Association (AHHCA), and lived and practised in Australia for thirteen years. She has more than twenty-five years of counselling and healing work behind her.”
Toronto is one of the most Indian cities outside India, and a large share of Taanya's GTA clients are of Indian origin — first-generation migrants in Brampton and Mississauga, their adult children, and the newer wave of students and workers on temporary permits. Having lived the migrant position herself, in a country that resembles Canada in most of the ways that matter, she brings to that work an understanding that does not need to be explained from scratch. Clients with no Indian connection are equally welcome, and many come for hypnotherapy or Reiki alone.
Treatment & Support

What People in the GTA Come With
- «Anxiety and worry that the long commute and the cost of living in the GTA do nothing to help
- «Low mood, burnout and the flatness of a life that looks fine from outside
- «Relationship and marriage strain, including arranged marriages and cross-cultural partnerships with two sets of in-laws
- «Immigration stress — PR applications, study permits, sponsorship — and the sense of a life on hold
- «Guilt about parents ageing in India, and grief when a death there could not be reached in time
- «The second-generation position: raised in Toronto, judged by standards from somewhere else
- «Smoking, weight, sleep and phobias that people want addressed with hypnotherapy

Sessions on Toronto Time
India is nine and a half hours ahead of Toronto during Eastern Daylight Time and ten and a half hours ahead in winter. That gap turns out to be convenient. An early-morning slot in Delhi is late evening in Toronto — nine, ten or eleven at night, after work and after the children are asleep, which is when most people want to talk anyway. A Delhi evening is a Toronto morning, for those who prefer to start the day with a session before the office or the commute.
Most clients keep a fixed weekly slot. Taanya makes the daylight-saving adjustments at her end when Ontario changes its clocks in March and November, so the appointment does not drift.

What Is Available
Sessions are by video and run fifty to sixty minutes. Depending on what you bring, the work may draw on counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, NLP-based coaching, EFT tapping, inner child work or Reiki — Taanya is trained across all of them and matches the approach to the person. Hypnotherapy in particular often works better at home, where people relax more readily than in an unfamiliar room.
Sessions are available in English, Hindi and Punjabi. What online requires is a private space where you will not be overheard and a reasonable connection. Where privacy in a full house is the obstacle — a common problem in Brampton and Mississauga — say so; there are usually workable solutions.

How This Works
A few things are worth stating plainly. The practice is based in New Delhi and Toronto clients are seen online only; there is no clinic in Toronto or anywhere in Ontario. Taanya is not registered with any Canadian regulator — not with the CRPO, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, nor the CPO, the College of Psychologists of Ontario, nor any other provincial college — and she works with Ontario clients as an Australian-trained holistic counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist, not as a registered psychologist or psychotherapist. She does not diagnose or prescribe medication. Fees are private and are not covered by OHIP or, in most cases, by extended health benefits, which generally require a provider registered in Ontario. And this is a scheduled service, not a crisis one: if you are in Toronto and in immediate distress, call or text 988, the Suicide Crisis Helpline, which is available around the clock, or call 911.

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Do you have an office in Toronto?+
No. All work with Toronto and GTA clients is by video from New Delhi. There is no in-person option in Canada.
Are you registered with the CRPO or the CPO?+
No. Taanya holds no Ontario or Canadian registration. She works with Toronto clients as a holistic counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist trained in Australia. If you need a registered clinician, a diagnosis or documentation for an insurer, employer or court, you need an Ontario-registered provider.
Will my benefits plan cover this?+
Usually not. OHIP does not cover it, and most workplace benefit plans reimburse only Ontario-registered providers. Fees are private. If your plan has a health spending account with broader rules, ask the insurer directly.
What time are sessions available for Toronto?+
Late evening Eastern time is the most common slot, with Toronto mornings also possible. Sessions are arranged individually around your working hours, and Taanya adjusts for Ontario daylight saving so your time stays fixed.
Can we speak in Hindi or Punjabi?+
Yes. Many GTA clients, particularly in Brampton, prefer it for family matters, and moving between languages within a session is entirely normal.
What if I need urgent help?+
Online counselling across time zones is not suited to a crisis. If you are at risk, call or text 988 anywhere in Canada, or call 911. Once you are safe, ongoing work by video may well be appropriate.
