“Mumbai clients see Dr. (Hon.) Taanya Nagi online, from wherever in the city they can close a door. There is no Mumbai clinic, and no reason to spend two hours on the Western line to reach one.”
Dr. (Hon.) Taanya Nagi holds an MA in Counselling Psychology and a Diploma in Holistic Healing & Counselling from the Holistic Living Training Institute in Melbourne, is a certified member of the Australian Holistic Healers & Counsellors Association (AHHCA), and practised in Australia for thirteen years before returning to India. She is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, NLP Life Coach and Usui Reiki Master with more than twenty-five years of practice, and she works online with clients across India from her practice in New Delhi, in English or Hindi.
Mumbai is the city she works with most outside Delhi NCR. Clients are in Bandra and Andheri, in Powai and Goregaon, across the harbour in Navi Mumbai, up the line in Thane and Kalyan, and in the older neighbourhoods south of Dadar. The common thread is a city that takes more from its residents than almost any other in India and gives back very little quiet.
Treatment & Support

Why Mumbai clients choose online
Mumbai already asks for two to three hours of commuting a day. A weekly therapy appointment that adds a journey across the city — Andheri to Bandra at seven in the evening, Navi Mumbai to anywhere at all — is the kind of commitment that lasts three weeks and then quietly stops. Online removes the journey and, with it, the most common reason people abandon therapy here.
The second reason is that the practice combines counselling with clinical hypnotherapy and energy work under one practitioner. Mumbai's therapy market is large but split: talk therapists on one side, healers on the other. Someone with insomnia, panic and a marriage under strain does not have to see three people.

What Mumbai clients come with
- «Burnout in film, television and advertising, where work is project-based, the hours are unbounded and the next job is never certain
- «Pressure in finance, consulting and startups — Bandra Kurla Complex, Lower Parel, Powai — where performance is measured constantly and the cost of living leaves no margin for a quiet year
- «Anxiety and panic in people who are functioning well at work and falling apart on the train home
- «Marriages under strain in small flats, where two people working long hours have no room, literal or otherwise, for a difficult conversation
- «Loneliness in a city of twenty million, particularly for people who came from elsewhere and live in a PG or a shared flat with people they did not choose
- «Family expectation in Marathi and Gujarati households, where business, marriage and property decisions are still made collectively and a thirty-year-old is not always treated as an adult

Sessions around Mumbai hours
Mumbai and Delhi share a time zone, so there is no arithmetic. Early-morning slots exist for people who leave for work by eight, and evening slots for those who are not home before nine. Weekend sessions are available, and for many Mumbai clients Sunday morning is the only genuinely free hour in the week.
Privacy in a Mumbai flat is the real obstacle. A 1BHK with a parent in the next room, or a shared flat with a flatmate behind a thin partition, does not offer a closed door. What works: headphones without exception, which remove half the conversation from anyone listening; a mid-morning slot when the flat is empty; a parked car, which is the most common solution in Indian cities; or a booked meeting room at work. Nobody is obliged to tell family or flatmates they are in counselling, and sessions are confidential regardless of who asks.

What is available
Counselling and psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, stress, grief and relationship difficulty. Clinical hypnotherapy for smoking, weight, phobias, sleep and performance anxiety. Couples and pre-marital counselling. Life coaching and confidence work drawing on NLP. Distance Reiki, chakra work and EFT tapping for those who want them. Reiki training to Master level is taught online as well, with attunements given at a distance. All of it is delivered by video, fifty to sixty minutes at a scheduled time.

How this works
Sessions are online from New Delhi. There is no clinic in Mumbai, and in-person appointments are only available at D-96 Anand Niketan, New Delhi 110021. Taanya is a counselling psychologist, not a psychiatrist; she does not diagnose psychiatric illness or prescribe medication, and where medication or a psychiatric assessment is indicated she will say so and refer you to a psychiatrist in Mumbai, in private practice or a hospital department. This is a scheduled service, not a crisis one: in immediate danger, call Tele-MANAS on 14416, KIRAN on 1800-599-0019 or 112, or go to the nearest emergency department.

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Is there a clinic in Mumbai?+
No. The only consulting room is at Anand Niketan in South Delhi. Mumbai clients are seen online by video. Anyone visiting Delhi is welcome to book an in-person session while they are there.
Are sessions in Hindi or English?+
Either, or the mix of the two that most Mumbai clients actually speak. Taanya does not offer sessions in Marathi or Gujarati; clients from those households generally find English or Hindi works well.
How do I keep sessions private in a shared flat?+
Headphones, a slot when the flat is empty, or a parked car. A booked meeting room at work is fine if you can be sure of not being interrupted. Sessions are not recorded, nothing is shared with anyone, and you do not have to tell family or flatmates that you are in counselling.
How many sessions will I need?+
It depends on what you bring. Focused difficulties often respond in six to twelve sessions; longstanding patterns take longer. You should have a rough estimate after two or three sessions, revised openly as the work goes on.
What if I need urgent help?+
Call Tele-MANAS on 14416 or KIRAN on 1800-599-0019, both free and available around the clock, or 112. If you cannot stay safe, go to the nearest emergency department; online counselling cannot respond to an emergency.
