Infidelity Counselling in South Delhi

An affair does not only break trust. It rewrites the past — the holidays, the ordinary evenings, the things that were said — and that retrospective damage is often harder to bear than the betrayal itself. Sessions are available in person at Anand Niketan in South Delhi and online, individually and as a couple.

Understanding Your Healing Journey

Treatment & Support

Counselling support for depression and anxiety

For the Betrayed Partner

The most useful thing to know early is that what you are experiencing is a trauma response, not a character flaw or a lack of dignity.

The instability is normal and it does settle. The work in the early stage is stabilisation, not decision-making — nobody should be deciding the future of a marriage in the first few weeks.

  • «Intrusive images you did not choose and cannot stop
  • «A compulsion to know details, followed by regret at knowing them
  • «Checking phones, messages, locations — behaviour you would once have found beneath you
  • «Swings between rage, longing and numbness within a single hour
  • «Physical symptoms: no appetite, no sleep, a permanently tight chest
  • «Losing confidence in your own judgement, which is often the deepest injury

For the Partner Who Had the Affair

If you want the relationship to survive, some things have to be understood clearly.

It is also true that people who have affairs are often carrying their own distress. That gets space here too. It explains; it does not excuse.

  • «Defensiveness and minimising will prevent recovery more reliably than the affair itself
  • «Repeated questions are not persecution; they are your partner trying to rebuild a coherent account of their own life
  • «Ending the affair completely and verifiably is a precondition, not a negotiating position
  • «Transparency has to be offered rather than extracted, for a long period
  • «Understanding honestly why it happened — not as an excuse, but because unexamined reasons repeat

Rebuilding, or Not

Some couples recover and describe the relationship afterwards as more honest than before. Others separate. Both are real outcomes and neither is treated here as the failure option.

  • «Stabilising first — sleep, functioning, and containing the crisis
  • «Understanding what happened, including the state of the relationship beforehand, without making that a justification
  • «Rebuilding trust through consistency over time, which cannot be shortcut by promises
  • «Deciding deliberately rather than drifting, which is what most couples do by default
  • «Where it ends, ending it as cleanly as possible, particularly where children are involved

Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know before booking your first session.

Should we do couples sessions or individual ones?+

Often both, and the sequence matters. Individual sessions early can be more useful while emotions are at their most volatile, moving to joint work once things are steadier.

Should I ask for all the details?+

Enough to stop imagining worse is usually helpful. Explicit specifics rarely are — they tend to become intrusive images that are hard to remove. This is worked through carefully rather than left to the worst moment.

Can trust genuinely be rebuilt?+

Sometimes, and it takes longer than people expect — commonly a year or more of consistent behaviour. It is rebuilt through evidence over time, not through apology.

Do you take sides?+

No. In couples work both people are heard. That is not the same as treating the affair as a shared responsibility — the decision to have it belongs to the person who made it.

My family says I should just adjust. +

That advice is common and it is not therapy. What you decide is yours to decide, and this is a confidential space in which to work it out without an audience.
