Treatment & Support

How It Shows Up
- «A running internal commentary that is harsher than anything you would say to another person
- «Discounting praise automatically — they are being polite, they do not know the real me
- «Difficulty saying no, and resentment afterwards
- «Apologising constantly, including for existing
- «Staying in work or relationships well below what you are capable of, because leaving would require believing you deserve better
- «Perfectionism, which is often low self-esteem wearing a respectable coat
- «Comparing yourself continuously, and always unfavourably

Where It Comes From
Almost always early, and almost always from repetition rather than a single event. A parent whose approval was conditional on performance. A sibling who was the clever one, leaving you the other thing. A school system built on public ranking. Criticism framed as motivation, delivered with love, absorbed as fact.
Indian families add a particular pressure here — comparison is often overt, frequently public, and generally intended as encouragement. A child does not experience it as encouragement. They experience it as a verdict, and they keep it.
The belief then survives because it filters what you notice. Success gets attributed to luck or timing; failure gets attributed to you. Over decades this builds an evidence file that feels overwhelming and was assembled with a heavy thumb on the scale.

What the Work Involves
This is not affirmations. Telling yourself you are wonderful while believing the opposite produces nothing but a sense of foolishness. The work is on the belief and the filter, which is why it lasts.
- «Identifying the specific belief, which is usually more precise than 'I am not good enough' — it might be about being a burden, or unlovable, or fundamentally incompetent
- «Tracing where it came from, and whose voice it originally was
- «Examining the filter, and recovering the evidence that has been systematically discounted
- «Working directly with the inner critic — understanding what it thinks it is protecting you from, which is what makes it possible to reduce its authority
- «Boundaries, since people with low self-esteem tend to have almost none, and each violation confirms the belief
- «Inner child work, which is often the most direct route when the belief was formed very early

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Isn't some self-criticism healthy?+
Accurate self-assessment is useful. A permanent hostile commentator is not, and it makes performance worse rather than better. The aim is honest appraisal, not relentless positivity.
How long does this take?+
It is a longer piece of work than something like panic — commonly eight to fifteen sessions or more. The belief is old and it has been rehearsed daily for decades.
Is this the same as depression?+
They overlap and each feeds the other, but they are not identical. Low self-esteem is a belief about worth; depression is a mood state with physical symptoms. If both are present, both are addressed.
Can confidence coaching fix it?+
Coaching helps with behaviour — speaking up, presenting, negotiating — and that is genuinely useful. But if the underlying belief is untouched, the confidence tends to be situational and fragile. Deeper work is usually needed alongside it.
Can I do this online?+
Yes. It is conversation-based and works well over video.
