PTSD Therapy in South Delhi

Post-traumatic stress is what happens when an experience was too much, too fast, or too soon for the mind to process at the time. It gets stored differently from ordinary memory, and it keeps behaving as though the event is still happening. Sessions are in person at Anand Niketan in South Delhi and online.

What Post-Traumatic Stress Looks Like

Numbness confuses people most. Many arrive convinced they cannot have trauma because they feel nothing about it. Shutting down is one of the most common responses there is.

  • «Intrusions — flashbacks, nightmares, or images arriving unbidden and carrying the full charge of the original event
  • «Avoidance of places, people, conversations and reminders, which shrinks life steadily over time
  • «Hypervigilance — sleeping badly, startling easily, sitting where you can see the door, never quite off duty
  • «Numbness and disconnection, including feeling nothing where you expect to feel something
  • «Changed beliefs: that the world is dangerous, that you cannot trust your judgement, that it was your fault
  • «Irritability and anger that arrive faster than the situation warrants

How the Work Is Paced

Trauma work done badly makes people worse, so the sequence matters more than the technique.

You will not be pushed to describe anything before you are ready, and you will never be told that you have to relive it to recover.

  • «Stability first. Sleep, grounding, and reliable ways to bring yourself back when something is triggered. No processing happens until this is in place.
  • «Understanding your own responses, which removes a great deal of shame — the symptoms are a normal reaction, not a personal failure.
  • «Processing, at your pace, using approaches that do not require detailed retelling where that would be too much. IEMT and Time Line Therapy are both useful for exactly this reason.
  • «Rebuilding — reclaiming the places, relationships and parts of life that avoidance took away.

When Something Else Is Needed First

If you are in an ongoing dangerous situation, safety comes before processing — trauma work cannot succeed while the trauma is still happening. If you are experiencing severe dissociation, or thoughts of ending your life, psychiatric support should be in place alongside therapy. You will be told plainly if that is the case and helped to arrange it.

Frequently Asked

Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know before booking your first session.

Do I have to describe what happened?+

No. Several of the approaches used here work on the emotional charge without requiring a detailed account. You need to be able to locate the memory; you do not need to narrate it.

It was years ago. Is it too late?+

No. Untreated post-traumatic stress does not fade on a schedule, and people recover decades after the event. Time since the event is not a good predictor of outcome.

Can something count as trauma if others had it worse?+

Yes. Trauma is defined by the effect on your nervous system, not by a ranking of severity. Comparing your experience to someone else's is one of the most common reasons people delay getting help.

How long does it take?+

A single-incident trauma in an otherwise stable life often resolves relatively quickly. Trauma that ran through childhood or lasted years takes considerably longer, and the early work is about stability rather than processing.

Will I forget what happened?+

No. The memory stays. What changes is that it stops behaving like a present-tense emergency and starts behaving like a memory.
