The Three Levels
The foundation. You are attuned, taught the hand positions, and learn to practise on yourself and on people close to you. Most of the value here is the self-practice, and most teachers would say the first degree is where the real work of the system lives.
Usually taught over two sessions, followed by a period — commonly twenty-one days — of daily self-practice before considering the next level.
Introduces the three symbols and distance healing. This is the level at which most people begin working with others in any structured way, and the point at which the system starts to feel like a practice rather than a technique.
For those who want to teach and attune others. This is a substantially longer commitment and should not follow immediately after second degree. A teacher who offers it as the next weekend is selling a certificate rather than training a teacher.

How Online Teaching Works
Each level is taught live over video rather than through recorded material, because the questions students ask are a significant part of the teaching. Sessions cover the history and principles of the system, the hand positions, the practice framework, and the attunement itself.
You will need somewhere quiet and undisturbed, and you will be asked to practise between sessions rather than moving straight through. Certification is issued on completion of each level.
Distance Attunement: An Honest Note
This is disputed within the tradition and you deserve to know that rather than being told there is consensus. Many Usui teachers hold that distance attunement is entirely valid, on the same reasoning that supports distance healing at second degree. Others maintain that attunement should be given in person.
If in-person attunement matters to you, that is a legitimate position and you should look for a teacher in your own city. Nobody here will try to talk you out of it.

Choosing a Teacher
Reiki is unregulated in India, so there is no register to consult. Useful questions: who attuned them and at what level, how long they have practised, how long they require between levels, and whether they make any claim about curing illness. A teacher who compresses all three degrees into a single weekend, or who claims medical outcomes, is worth avoiding.

Everything you need to know before booking your first session.
Is online attunement genuine?+
Views differ within the tradition and it is fair to say so. Many Usui teachers consider distance attunement fully valid on the same basis as distance healing; some hold it should be in person. If the latter matters to you, find a local teacher.
How long between levels?+
A meaningful gap, and typically at least twenty-one days of daily self-practice after first degree. Anyone offering all three levels in one weekend is issuing certificates rather than teaching a practice.
Can I charge for Reiki after learning it?+
After second degree many practitioners do begin working with others. Be clear with clients that it is a complementary relaxation practice and not medical treatment, and never suggest anyone alter prescribed care.
Do I need any background to start?+
None at all. First degree assumes no prior knowledge of Reiki or of any related practice.
Is this different from the Reiki classes in South Delhi?+
